19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since March of 2023.

The win also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to win a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

His defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
