Hulu is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry game that players dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and madness with the same glee, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two producers whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.

About the Series

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also parallel the video games' format by having a new backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what role that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new comprehensive agreement with the showrunner.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, visionary style to the screen.”

A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
