Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
