Tottenham Manager Thomas Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Increase Pressure on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "they cannot be real Spurs fans" by boss Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in two goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of 2025.

However the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when the keeper lost the ball well beyond his box.

He came out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.

However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Moments later when the ball came to Vicario again, a number of Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those jeering episodes really angered Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters apparently booed the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' reaction to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are with each other moving ahead."

Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second-half showing.

Ex- top-flight keeper Hart stated that the next goal was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is playing. He's a great team player, he's a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match

Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old stated following the game that he had to take the criticism.

"That score was a error of my own, I take accountability for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. That made an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He stated being booed "comes with football".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to focus on our own performance. The team is missing in calmness and calmness to reverse results. Today is a bad loss and it's tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Line'

In spite of the keeper's error, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next most distant top division score of the season – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 yard goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also came on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open goal to aim for.

10 moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 moments following the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the net, my interest sparked a bit.

"Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little additional opportunity. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the correct connection and get it towards goal. I felt a good feeling, as soon as it left my boot, that it was on the right line."

'When You're in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank

While the keeper's error led coverage, this was an all-round poor day for Tottenham to extend their home ground woes.

This was their 10th home loss of the year in the league, a shared team statistic matching 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against the manager's old side the Bees and champions Liverpool to play before the end of the year.

Only one of those wins have come since Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you as well – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to keep working. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to develop."

Tottenham have lost four straight at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging nine point five shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest rates on record in a single season (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the criticism," the pundit said. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
